A Career with Solvina
Everyone at Solvina is a true innovator – driven by the belief that groundbreaking solutions are only developed once a problem has been identified. We apply our extensive competencies within science, together with our unique talents and experience, to first identify, and then consider challenges from multiple perspectives.
We challenge the conventional, and scrutinize standard practice. By doing so, we keep pushing forward the frontiers of the power and process industries.
We’re always looking for talented individuals who are as enthusiastic about identifying challenges and developing innovative solutions to them. If you have the spirit of an innovator, then you would be welcome to apply to become part of the Solvina team. Click on the relevant button to the right. If you can’t find a suitable vacant position you’re welcome to submit an open application.

Join the course on Power System Stability
Join us for our course on Power System Stability, created in partnership with Chalmers University of Technology. Designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of power system stability, this course offers a unique blend of lectures and hands-on lab demonstrations. With a focus on power system control theory fundamentals, stability issues, active power and frequency control, and the testing and tuning of AVR and PSS, this course is perfect for anyone looking to bridge the gap between theory and practice in this exciting field. The course will take place 21st-25th August 2023. Register now to secure your spot! …
Master thesis: Simulation software development (ex2023-004)
Thesis Description: Simpow (SIMulation of POWer systems) is a power system simulation software owned by Solvina. It includes modules for: load flow calculation, fault analysis, dynamic simulations (RMS- and EMT-models), linear analysis, and much more. As the complexity of the power system increases, the demand on the simulation softwares used for power system studies also increases. Solvina is therefore offering a thesis within simulation software development. The aim of the thesis is to develop Simpow to make it ready for future power system studies. The thesis can include tasks such as: Structuring of source code Developing new tools and functions Benchmarking towards other softwares (PSS/E, PowerFactory, or similar) User interface development and design For this thesis we are looking for one student with the following background: MSc student within electric power, computer engineering, programming, industrial design, or similar Special interest in the following areas is meriting: Electric power systems Programming (Fortran) Numerical methods Control theory User interface design Solvina is offering: An exciting thesis work performed in a highly competent environment with expert areas such as electric power engineering, process and control engineering, and engineering management. The thesis will be performed at our headquarters in Gothenburg. The exact scope will be decided together with the student to match with the student’s interest areas. If you have any questions about the thesis, please contact Bengt Johansson at bengt.johansson@solvina.com or 031-709 63 66. Selection takes place continuously Apply here
Master thesis: Ancilliary services (ex2023-003)
Thesis Description: Solvina is working with various municipally owned companies who would like to enter the market for ancillary services with their production units. The work in these projects not only focus on technical aspects but also on more strategic aspects such as methods and support in the development of the power system, including usage of inverter-based power production. Solvina is offering a thesis work within ancillary services, with the aim of developing technical and/or strategic aspects that are relevant to our ongoing projects. The thesis work can include tasks such as: Model development Development of methods and work processes Investigating how inverter-based power production can be used or affects the market for ancillary services The student completing this thesis will gain great knowledge in power plant dynamics and control, power plant testing, ancillary services and their qualification processes. For this thesis we are looking for one student with the following background: MSc student within electric power, signals and systems, or similar Special interest in the following areas is meriting: Power plant dynamics and control Ancillary services Strategic development of the power system Solvina is offering: An exciting thesis work performed in a highly competent environment with expert areas such as electric power engineering, process and control engineering, and engineering management. The thesis will be performed at our headquarters in Gothenburg. The exact scope will be decided together with the student to match with the student’s interest areas. If you have any questions ...
Master thesis: Model development (ex2023-002)
Thesis Description: Solvina is working with various types of power system studies such as: model development and validation, controller tuning, verification of performance requirements, grid code compliance according to RfG (Requirements for Generators), stability studies, and qualification for providing ancillary services. These studies require more and more complex models to study for example integration of renewables and battery energy storage systems into the power grid. Solvina is therefore offering a thesis work within model development, with the aim of developing models that are relevant to our studies. The thesis work can include tasks such as: Component modelling and validation in some of our customer projects Modelling of inverter-based production sources in Solvina’s own power system simulation software Simpow Benchmarking of Simpow towards other softwares (PSS/E, PowerFactory, or similar) Component modelling for our test equipment or virtual power plant thesis The student completing this thesis will gain great knowledge in component modelling, control theory, power plant dynamics and control, and simulation softwares. For this thesis we are looking for one student with the following background: MSc student within electric power, signals and systems, or similar Special interest in the following areas is meriting: Power plant dynamics Control theory User-model development in simulation softwares (PSS/E, PowerFactory, or similar) Programming (Fortran, LabView, Simulink) Solvina is offering: An exciting thesis work performed in a highly competent environment with expert areas such as electric power engineering, process and control engineering, and engineering management. The thesis will be performed ...
Master thesis: Virtual power plant (ex2023-001)
Thesis Description: Solvina has developed a testing equipment to analyse the dynamic performance of power plants while connected to the power grid. As part of our long tradition of continuously developing our testing equipment, this thesis work is aiming at developing a virtual power plant framework. The thesis work can include tasks such as: Software design and programming of framework Programming of power plant models for synchronous and inverter-based production Hardware specification and construction Testing and validation The virtual power plant framework will be implemented on a real-time computer, and it should include some of the most common signals for monitoring and control of a power plant. It should also have a hardware interface with the same type of signals that are found in a real power plant. The students completing this thesis will gain great knowledge of the workings of a power plant, from its dynamics and control systems to the interaction and integration with the power grid. For this thesis we are looking for one or two students with the following background: MSc student within electric power, automation, signals and systems, or similar Special interest in the following areas is meriting: Power plant dynamics and interaction with the grid Control theory Programming (LabView, Simulink) Solvina is offering: An exciting thesis work performed in a highly competent environment with expert areas such as electric power engineering, process and control engineering, and engineering management.
